- The amended CSR rules (22 Jan. 2021) provide for classes of companies / entities who can undertake CSR activities on behalf of a company (i.e., Section 8 Company / public trust / society / entity established under an Act of Parliament / State Legislature, etc.). Such entities are required to be registered as exempt under Section 12A and Section 80G of the Income-tax Act, 1961.
- Such entities are required to register themselves with the Central Government by filing the Form CSR-1 electronically with the Registrar, with effect from the 1 April 2021 and such company shall be assigned a unique CSR Registration Number.
- A company may engage international organisations for designing, monitoring and evaluation of the CSR projects / programmes as per its CSR policy as well as for capacity building of their own personnel for CSR.
- A company may also collaborate with other companies for undertaking projects / programmes / activities in a manner
